iPhoto; catalog or archive

Hi
trying to figure out whether iPhoto is an actual archive, or just a catalog with indications of what you have and where on your computer you can find them?

Depends on how you set it up, but typical use would be as an archive, I would think. iPhoto stores the photo within it's own directory structure (though you can set it to do otherwise, I believe).
