Okay, first week with my new macbook, PERFECT!

So i have all my photos organized into one folder, "My Pictures". In side i have them in there own folders, organized and clean.

When i go to import them into iPhoto, it duplicates all of them into its own folder, not what i want. How do i make iPhoto not duplicate the photos, i only need them in one place. Can't it just reference them in the My Pictures folder?

Thanks!

Yes, easily. Select iPhoto->preference->Advanced. Uncheck the box labled "copy files to iPhoto Library folder".

You may want to delete what you have in iPhoto first before reimporting so that you don't have duplicates.

Doing this still leaves an "Alias" for every photo inthe iPhoto folder, can i delete these or are they required for iPhoto.

thanks for the help!

Don't touch the aliases.

They don't take up too much space anyways.
