iPhoto crashes repeatedly on import from A560

I'm trying to get the images off my gf's Cannon A560. Every time I do the import, it gets to the last image and then crashes. It always says there are more images than there are, so it's as if it is trying to import a non-existent file.

In this case iPhoto reports that there are 412 images to import. It starts importing and I can see it get to the last image. However, iPhoto says there are another 15 to go. After a few seconds the barber-pole stops moving, and then iPhoto exits. Every time.

Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the latest drivers for your camera? Have you installed all Mac OS X updates? iPhoto/iLife updates?

As to the second, everything is fully updated as of the last patch series.

Drivers? There are drivers? How do I get them?

Sorry. Mac OS X comes pre-loaded with Cannon Drivers. However, have you tried using the software that comes with the camera to import the pictures?
