I'm trying to get all my photos (9000+) off my old iPhone 4 to be able to clear it out to give to my mom, but iPhoto gives me a pinwheel and crashes after a few minutes when I plug the phone in. I need a solution. Any thoughts?

quit iphoto as soon as it opens.

Go to your applications folder and open Image Capture. Use that instead. It's the brains behind the iPhoto importing operation anyhow. If it crashes there, then you're looking at corrupted content on your iPhone.

Thank you. I can only assume that's the problem right now because when I plug my 4S in it's fine. I'm thinking it's because there's just so many pictures on the 4.

Don't know if there's a solution to this. Thought maybe getting an external hard drive and moving iPhoto to it might work, if that's possible. I don't know though.
