iPhoto 'disappeared' a project

So, I had finished a project in iPhoto, and was doing some cleanup. I selected photo from the stack to delete, and when I hit delete, the entire project disappeared. There was no warning, like you get when you normally choose to delete a project. I can't undo what happened. I'm just stuck.

Any thoughts on what might have happened and what recovery options I might have?

Nope. It's as if the project never was...

Other than the one time I got an error that even the Apple Tech folks couldn't find any KB article about, this is the strangest Apple-related event I've ever experienced.

I'm kind of hoping that this has happened to someone before and all that went wrong was the computer wigged out and I just need to reboot or something simple like that.
