I have set iPhoto to 'not copy when importing' (a setting in iPhoto preferences) because I want to keep my own directory structure.

However, I just imported 2 GB of photos into iPhoto and noticed that the iPhoto library package went up by 2 GB (as measured using the Get Info option in Finder). However, I am not able to see those 2 GB of photos within the library package.

Is iPhoto copying things over despite me asking it not to? Or does the library package contain some kind of symbolic links which leads to a false 2 GB size? (I dont think it is the latter because the total available space on my HDD seems to have gone down too.)

Preview and Thumbnails

Turns out the 2 GB of stuff is mostly in a folder called Preview and some in a folder called Thumbnails. Preview seems to have a full size version of each photo I imported without copying.. how annoying!

Can I delete these folders?
