iPhoto does not import RAW (.CR2) (EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi)

I have been shooting in RAW (.CR2) but when I try to import them into iPhoto (6.0.5) iPhoto says that it is unable to import the photographs. My system is up to date so I have the latest RAW update installed properly. Preview can preview the raw image but it also cannot open it; it probably only shows the jpeg embedded in the exif data.

Anybody got a clue why iPhoto / OS X won't open my RAW photo's? Is it not yet supported?

SOLVED

I found another RAW updater for PPC and INTEL based macs which solved the issue....
