iPhoto doesn't recognise my iPhone4 pictures

Can someone help me please. My girlfriends parents were over here visiting for the week and all photo's and videos were taken on my iP4. However, I've just gone to import them all to my mac to put on a DVD for them and NONE of the pictures are recognised, instead all the images are blank with a dotted line, and when I try to import I get an error message - see the below. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I can get these pictures and videos off my iPhone?

I was having a similar issue; I updated my computer, restarted, and it imported them fine.
