iPhoto: Editing Pics in Albums

I am using iPhoto 5.0.1, and I have a question about editing photos. I have created a number of albums and would like to edit the photos in those albums. However, whenever I make a change to a photo, the original photo in the main library also changes.

Is it possible to create an album, edit the photos in that album, and not cause changes to the original photo in the main library?
