How would you do if you want to edit your photos and publish them while keeping the originals safe?

I thought of keeping them in a separate folder outside of iPhoto. But someone pointed out that iPhoto does not edit originals and it keeps originals in somewhere that I can get by using the "revert to original" feature.

If you have been in a similar situation please share what you have done to manage your photos. Thanks.

You can revert to originals.

But consider that when iPhoto imports it copies photos, so depending on how you got them "into" iPhoto in the first place you may have more than one "original." Many of us keep photos in a separate place, eg an external disk, so that we have backups. In that case even if iPhoto got corrupted and both your edited photo and the original in iPhoto were gone you'd still have that backup.

Set up a workflow that does what you want. Just make sure you have adequate backups; it's hard to replace photos.
