iPhoto editing pictures... increasing size of library..

Whenever i edit my photos on iphoto it creates another file. So, when i edit 5 gigs of photo. it adds another 5 gigs to my library. is there a way to fix this? so when i edit the original gets deleted?

Not that I'm aware of. A brute force workaround would be manually rebuilding the library every once in a while to make the Modified images the Originals of a new library. Consequently however, any keepsakes or print projects, albums, Faces information will be cleared by the manual rebuild process.

so when i edit the original gets deleted?

This would be fine until you needed the originals again. This is a built in feature. I for one like it. I have edited a picture in the past and it looked great but when I printed it out it was not so great any longer. Cropping old photos and then printing is not the best. If my original was deleted you know where I would of been. Once you are 100% sure you don't need it, just delete it yourself...
