Iphoto epson cx6000 printer problem

Any help is appreciated. Just got a CX6000 epson. I am using it, connected USB, on an intel imac 20". It appears that the driver that comes with the printer is not compatible with the intel macs. So, from Epson website, I downloaded the proper driver, and after deleting the driver that came with the printer, installed it. Most things seem to print fine... except for iPhoto. When I push "print" in iPhoto, the printer clicks a couple times, and the readout on it says that it is printing from computer. Then it disapears, going back to the default (copier) screen. and nothing happens. In the epson print dialog box, which does open, it never lists the iPhoto print jobs as printing or completed.??? HELP!
