iPhoto Exporting Issue

All of a sudden, I cannot export photos from iPhoto to my desktop or my backup disk. Anyone know any solutions to this or how I should change my settings? I'd appreciate any help here....

I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year. I live in the Country and don't have access to an Apple store.

What iPhoto and Mac OS X version do you use?

Does it happen to all photos, or just special ones (other file type).

Can you drag them anywhere else?

I have iPhoto, 8.1.2 and Mac OS X 10.6.4.

All photos, and I cannot export them anywhere or drag them either. I have been able to export and drag and copy for as long as I have had my computer and this just started yesterday. When I try and export, it says:

unable to create/users/myname/desktop

in the export pop-up box after I try and save to my desktop (which is where I have saved my photos).....

Can you drag them to another folder? Try a different account and see if you have the same problem.

Does the behavior persist after a reboot?
