iPhoto failed to import message

Each time I open iPhoto I get a message that there are three photos that were not imported; next, it asks if I want to import them.... No matter how I respond to the choices, iPhoto immediately repeats the questions. Finally, after twice through this annoying drill, iPhoto opens. I have no clue what the phantom pics may be.

How can I end this annoyance? I found the /user file it refers to when it supposedly saves the phantom photos, and I deleted the references to them, but next time into iPhoto, the same thing happens....

Please help!
