Does anyone know a solution for now that is just as simple and integrated as i described below.
Just gave some online feedback to iPhoto, what do you think?
I mocked it up in photoshop a couple of weeks ago, but can't find it anymore.
Sorry if this is thread #1000 about this subject, but could not really find one

What i really miss in the iLife suite, and especially in iPhoto is a server-like solution.
(would make some really great use for the Mac mini)
I would love to see something like this:
- iPhoto detects the server, user can make connection with username and password (depends on server configuration)
- On the server multiple libraries/albums exist (could be one for every person, or some categories like: family, church....), depends on server configuration for which library the user has viewing or editing rights.
- Every library/album is filled with events (really great way of organizing photos by the way!)
- new events can me made available on the server by dragging it from the local library to a library on the server.
extra functionality, now it gets interesting....
- events can be made offline available, but it always remains displayed as if it is on the server. (give it a nice little icon to make visible to the that it's offline available)
- Events that are not offline-availabe are displayed when offline, but the thumbnail is greyed out to let the user know the event is there, but not currently available because he/she is working offline)
- If someone with write-rights edits an offline event, the changes are synced back when reconnecting.... (little difficult to implement I'm afraid)
- if someone without the sufficient rights to edit an event (connected or offline). It's just not possible! (let's be kind and give them some sort of message (or a nice little icon).... that's gonna save some frustration and unnecessary forum threads.
- Of course some nifty AppleTV integration! And syncing them to your iPod and iPhone via iTunes.
Family-photo sharing over the network has never been easier, it just works!
If you have any questions, i'd be happy to elaborate...
Thank you for your time!
