iphoto freezing in leopard

hello can someone help. have a macbook pro with upgraded leopard. i use adobe lightroom to develop my RAW images and then further process in i photo.
In i photo, if image is tweaked eg sharpened, i get the spinning whell and the computer freezes. cant even force quit.

any help on this would be welcome
