iphoto has all my albums but i cant access photos

Can anyone please help me.
I have imported all my photos to my new MB air from my ibook and all the albums are there and dated but no photo is showing up. When i press to open a photo, i get a huge ! instead.

I have a separate photos folder with photos in it and that opens fine. They do only open in preview though.

Also, in the 'all documents' folder in finder, not only are all my documents there, all my photos are in there also, and again they open in preview when chosen.

DOes anyone know what;s going on?
Im guessing i have done something wrong but am not sure.
