iPhoto & iMovie Libraries shared between multiple Macs?

Ok so I ordered a new Mac Mini Yay!

Any who I have a question I have a MacBook Pro, and I would like to share my iPhoto and iMovie libraries between the two computers. I know this might be solved by using an external hard drive shared wirelessly.

However, I would like the Macbook Pro to cache on it hard drive recent photos, and my current imovie projects...

So is there a way to backup my old iMovie and iPhoto libraries and have my MacBook Pro keep the recent new stuff, but still be able to edit it from my Mini when I come home?
