iPhoto in central location question

Hello..

Question: If I put my main iPhoto library on a central computer that both me and the wife have access to. Can I, on both computers, option click on iPhoto, select that library and both of us will be able to see the same photo's etc? And will also be able to import files over the network to that specified location? Will this work?
