iPhoto in spotlight

Right, so I have a question about how iPhoto works in conjunction with spotlight. I was deleting some photos in iphoto, and so I emptied the iPhoto trash and then the actual trash in finder, and when I did a search in spotlight to see if the files actually deleted, they were gone. However, I searched "img" just out of curiosity, and a whole bunch of files showed up that were all in my library. Is there any way to find out how to see those files while not in iPhoto? I'm on a MBA if that makes a difference.
