iPhoto 8.1.2 on my MBP just randomly cropped faces out of every picture and made individual pictures of each face from each photo. for example, a family picture of 10 people now has the original image and 10 other images of just the faces of the people in the original image.
I'm in the process of getting rid of them, iPhoto just names them something like "originalfile_face01","originalfile_face02" etc. so I did a search for file names including the _face in the file name... it is excess of 15,000 files and I'm still having issues finding all of them, they are showing up in iPhoto even after I delete them.

Very aggravating, is there an explanation as to why this happened and how do I prevent it from happening again? I assume it has something to do with Faces, but can't find any preferences for that iPhoto feature.

Thanks for the help!
