When I first got my mac book pro, I went to set up my iphoto and selected the option to search my entire computer for photos. This resulted in all the images including app icons etc being imported into my iphoto.

Obviously I want to get rid of these but I'm worried that if I drag them to the trash that they will be deleted off the hard drive permanently.

At the moment I've stopped importing photos because the junk in my iphoto library makes it difficult to look for what I want.

How can I get rid off images from my iphoto library but not my harddrive? Is there also an option to do this en mass?

Thanks in advance
