Since I installed the 10.4.8 update, iPhoto launches itself automatically when I attach my external FW drive. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?? I'm thinking that iPhoto thinks my external drive is a camera or something since it has all my pictures on it.

I dont even own a mac but what if you try going into iphoto's settings and changing preferencs to not open iphoto when camera connected.. not in those words but u know what i mean..

My Canon software to import photos loads when I switch on my FW drive also after 10.4.8.

Very annoying indeed.

Check under the Preferences in Image Capture, that's the program that controls whether or not iPhoto opens when you connect a camera.

Thanks! Changing the preferences in Image Capture seems to have done the trick! :)
