iPhoto Library consolidation?

I have most of my original photos on my Early 2008 MBP running El Capitan. We just moved to a new iMac running Mojave.

Will iPhoto pull all the original files from iCloud automatically? Or am I better off just transplanting the iPhoto library to an external drive and putting that on my new iMac?

If the prior one was fully synced to iCloud, yes. That's what happens.

Perfect! I just didn't want it to bring compressed versions of the originals!
