I use iPhoto to manage my photos. Nothing fancy, mainly family photos. In the past I have been creating a new library for each year. I'm now been presented with a project that I am working on that makes this practice rather cumbersome. I have been tinkering with the idea of merging all my libraries, but I wonder about the file size. Each library is about 4 GB in size, so a merged one would be about 20 GB. Is that too big in practice?

Basically I would like to get an idea of how big is too big for an iPhoto Library to get, or what some of y'all use for management of libraries in practice.

Thanks.

I don't believe there is a size limit. I have generally created a new one whenever I hit 4.7GB (DVD size) in the hopes to be able to archive to a DVD.

However, I haven't archived any yet.

As long as you are able to back it up, you should be OK.

I am having the same thoughts as well, whether I should merge mine or not.
