iPhoto library import question

I've imported photos in the iPhoto library. In iPhoto's preferences i have UNchecked the option "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". Still, i think photos are being copied nonetheless, because the iPhoto library file was many GB's large afterwards. On the other hand... when i do a "show file" in iPhoto of a specific photo, he opens the original location/folder and points to the original file ?!

==> so this leaves me very confused to say the least.

Anyone knows what's going on?

Definitely confusing.

You might try unchecking the "don't import to iPhoto Library", import a photo and see what happens.
