iPhoto library size balloons

Hi,

I have many pics in my iPhoto library collected over the years. In total, it was about 40 GB of images.

Suddenly a few months ago, the Library size seems to have doubled in size to about 85 GB for no apparent reason. I can't get it to reduce either. I thought about exporting all the images to another folder, then re-loading them into iPhoto, but that would take eternity to complete.

Anyone have an easier solution to this, or at least know why this problem happened in the first place?

Have you edited a lot of photos recently? When you edit a photo in iPhoto is saves the original then saves another copy as the edited version, using double the space.

Have you synced to an iPod? That creates an iPod cache nearly equal in size to your library.
