Howdy folks,

I have been using new iPhoto libraries whenever the current one reached close to 4.7GB (DVD size) in order to be able to archive them to a DVD in the future.

Are there any other concerns other that archive/backup when it comes to size? is this approach recommended?

I would think that after a while it will become difficult to know which library your photos are in.

That approach sounds great to me. As long as you have at least 1 backup of everything ( your dvd's ) your pretty much set. I know others will say that if you want a true backup you need 2 versions at your house and 1 off site, but you get the idea. I don't think its going to harm anything to keep creating new libraries if thats what your asking.

I think I am there already.

That's kinda why I am tempted to stop doing it.

I currently have only two external HD backups, I plan to do my DVD backups this summer and place the DVDs at a safe deposit box.

Is that what you do?
