iPhoto Library twice as large on Retina Macbook Pro

I just upgraded from a macbook pro to a retina. I imported my iphoto library which was 56gb on the old machine and now shows up as 113gb on the retina. Any idea why that might happen or how I can fix it?
Also, all the photos copied but none of the albums, have I just gone about this the wrong way?
