iPhoto - moving original pictures.

I’ve been using iPhoto using the ‘Copy Photos to iPhoto’ option uncheck and managing my pictures in Finder. Now, I’d like to let iPhoto handle all my pictures, if I now check this option, will it copy all my photos stored outside of iPhoto to the ‘originals’ folder within iPhoto?

Yes you can. I just tried this with a folder of my desktop pictures and it is safe. Under File is Import to Library. Point it at your current file and it will import them to iPhoto.
