Just got a macbook air and quite pleased with it so far.

I have a lot of photos (100gb) stored on a windows computer on the network and I would like to organize/view them in iPhoto.

In iPhoto, I unchecked the box to copy photos to the library when importing. Then I imported the folder containing the photos from the network. The first time I did this, it quickly imported 28k of the 30k photos, but then seemed to slow to a crawl. I cancelled the import and tried again. But ever since then, it imports very slowly (1 photo / min). I tried storing the iphoto library file locally and on the network drive, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm using an N router and then networked computer is wired, and my mba connects wirelessly.

I have no explanation for why the first import went quickly, but I would like to know if what I am attempting is possible? And if not, what are my alternatives.

Thanks!
