iPhoto not copying 100% of photo's across to external hard drive

I appreciate the issues posted here about iPhoto's but I have a weird one for you.

When moving sub-albums across to my seagate (fully mac formatted/operational, works fine for iMovies for example), I seem to lose some photo's (10-20%).

Does anyone know why this happens, and how I can correct it?
