iPhoto not displaying photos - 7.1

I just installed iLife '08 and am having problems displaying pictures in iPhoto 7.1 (latest update).

I can import pictures without any problems.... but when I right click on the thumbnail to edit the picture.... the display pane is in blank. No errors, it opens the right window but the picture is just not there.

I tried to rebuild the iPhoto data base without any luck. Any other ideas of what may be causing this to happen?

i too have blank (or grey / gray) thumbnails , only on certain "events"
