ive imported several videos..it seems like iphoto hasnt been optimized for 3GS videos yet..it treats them as photos

or is there another program thats supposed to hold the videos?

iPhoto has always treated cell phone originated video this way. You can import these clips into iMovie to edit. Additionally you can watch the in iPhoto, at least the latest version.

iPhoto 09 works fine for me
I can import and playback perfectly

what version of iPhoto are you using?
