Resolved iphoto not recognizing .jpg or RAW error mssg

Changed cameras this weekend from Nikon to Sony and tried to import RAW and .jpg from the Sony to my Mac Mini and iPhoto 8.? does not recognize the files. Nikon worked ok before.

Works ok on my imac with version 7.?

Created new library still no good, tried exporting originals to a folder and then importing, installed 7.? created new library and still no good.

Reinstalled from disc twice, no go. Also iPhoto start up is very slow, long beach ball.

Aperture works fine.

Any ideas?

Resolved by rebuilding library/data base, not sure how it became corrupted but possibly from restoring from a back up some time ago.
