I've run out of space on my mac so bought an external hard drive to put all my photos and movies on, after plugging in and running time machine, i've also dragged my iphoto library over, so i can open either the one on the mac or the one on the external drive. So I unplugged the drive and put all my photos in the trash (luckily I didn't press empty) and plugged the drive back in, but it copied what I'd done, so those photos were in the trash as well?? I just want to move the library over and for it to stay there while I delete the photos off the mac as I have no room left!! HELP!! Thank you!

As you now have two iPhoto Libraries, you need to launch iPhoto while holding down the Option/Alt key. That will then give you a choice as to which Library to use. That may solve your problem.
