This is really not a big deal, just annoying. Whenever I sync my 3rd gen Touch with iOS4, iPhoto opens and displays a photo of the Touch. What's the purpose of this and/or can I stop it? Thanks in advance.

Launch iPhoto go to Preferences (in iPhoto) -> General (at the top) -> Conecting Camera opens -> and click on no application

You have either taken screenshots or downloaded pictures to your Photos app. Thus the iPod touch is recognized as a "camera" by your computer. As the last poster indicated, you can disable that feature but after you'll need to launch iPhoto manually when you want to import pictures from an actual digital camera.
