iPhoto painfully slow

Hi, I'm a Mac newbie. I just did an initial import of some photos, roughly 700, into iPhoto. As I am trying to go through them and clean them up it is painfully slow. It also appears to be making the entire OS sluggish. I have a iMac 800 MhZ PPC G4 with 256 MB SDRAM. I am on Mac OS 10.4.9 and iPhoto 2.0.1 (3E8). Any ideas or experince would be appreciated. Thanks.

That is a very old version of iPhoto, and it may well have been designed to work with only about 1000 photos. iPhoto was painfully slow during those years. Also, running Tiger on a G4 with 256 MB of RAM is going to be painfully slow. FWIW I have 10.4.9 running on a 400 Mhz G3 with 768 MB and it is usable for simple tasks.

Tiger's minimum requirement is 256MB, and we all know what "minimum system requirements" means. :D u need to add RAM to around 768MB or 1G to enjoy a smooth speed with what you are trying to do.
