iPhoto - problems importing

I had 2 macbooks, a CD and a C2D, so I sold the CD to my friend today and she's been trying to import all her photos into iPhoto but with no joy. I did a complete OSX reinstall last night and Software Update has been run with no joy. I asked her to send me a photo that doesn't work and it's working fine on my C2D.. the error she was getting at first stated that the file might be missing data, now it's telling her that the file can't be imported because its already in the library, but nothing shows up.

Only one photo has worked so far, and that was a test photo she took with a camera, nothing since. Any ideas?

Weird. The photos that claim to already be in the library but aren't showing; are they in the iPhoto library in Finder?

I'm not sure, I'm gonna get her to bring the MB over in a day or two and hopefully work it out from there.. I hope its just a daft obvious mistake hehe
