When I select an image to modify, then press the full-screen button, the controls show up briefly at the top and bottom of the screen. Then they disappear and the photo takes up the entire page. How do I leave the controls on top and bottom so they are there when I choose full-screen?

To make the toolbar and thumbnail strips stop autohiding, you can use View->Show Toolbar and View->Show Thumbnails.

move your pointer to the top or bottom of the screen to get the menu's to appear

OK, is there any way to keep them there permanently? I was watching a .mac training video on the Apple site and it showed both the top (thumbnails) and bottom (toolbar) as fixed and available

OK, I found it was was able to set "show thumbnail" and "show toolbar" as fixed position. Thanks to both of you
