I just got a new Imac and I've moved all of my pictures over to it. I guess I need to import them into IPhoto now? If I do this does it mean the pictures are on the computer twice?

Yes it does. Actually, usually more than twice. If you import the photos without grouping them, and then organize them in iPhoto afterwards, you will have two copies in the iPhoto app (but you can only see one of each).

Also, anything that Apple names with an I in front of it is iName not Iname.

Up to you.

Go to iPhoto>Preferences>Advanced>Importing:

Check "Copy items to the iPhoto Library" will do exactly that. Leave it unchecked and your iPhoto library package will just contain aliases to the originals on your hard disk.

Whatever you choose, any adjustments you make to the originals will result in a copy being made and stored within the iPhoto library package.
