iphoto quits on import

iPhoto opens, but when I try to import a picture from file, it starts the import and quits. It changes to the import screen and the progress bar at the top left appears before it quits. After quitting there is no iPhoto quit unexpectedly dialog or anything, thus the OS thinks it quitted normally.

The next time I run iphoto I get this :

If I hit yes it just tries to import it and quits again, if I hit no I get this :

I have tried completely uninstalling ilife and reinstalling it with no luck.

I don't feel like doing a fresh install, any thoughts?

P.S. iphoto 9.1.1 on 10.6.5 on a 2006 MBP
