iphoto sharing

I am trying to share photos between user accounts through iPhoto. The problem is that when my photos are brought up on my girlfriends account they are at a very low resolution to what the file actually is. It's like taking a DSLR photo and making it camera phone quality.

How can I improve this? can it be done or does iphoto lower the resolution to get a fast transfer time?

in preferences I click on sharing and select the whole library. when I go to the other account the pictures are very low quality. 340ish
