iPhoto to Aperture transfer, pictures gone

iPhoto was getting way to slow, so I got Aperture and tried to import everything from iPhoto to Aperture. It told me there was not enough room to import them into the Aperture library, but I had enough to import it to the Pictures folder. However, even though it told me I had enough space my computer ran out before it was close to finished.

Now suddenly the "Masters" folder in iPhoto won't show up. Normally I could look in there to find a photo by searching for it in Spotlight and then clicking on the Masters folder under search results, but NO photo or movie shows up anymore in the Masters folder for searches, only in the Preview folder. I'm afraid to delete any pictures that Aperture put in the Pictures folder because I don't know if they are still in Masters or not, and I'm stuck at 0 (literally, 0) MB of free space on my computer, which is annoying as can be. Any suggestions?
