Has anyone gotten a notification from the App Store saying their iPhoto needs to be updated? I just got a notification on 2 of my computers saying I need to update iPhoto even though it has been replaced by the Photos app for months. When I try to update it, the App Stores gives an error message saying that this update is unavailable right now, for obvious reasons...

Delete your existing copy, then redownload it from the Purchases section of the App Store.

iPhoto is not on the App Store, so I cannot redownload it.

It's not in the main App Store. You have to click on the "Purchases" tab at the top of the App Store window to see it. The "Purchases" tab is next to "Featured," "Top Charts," "Categories" and "Updates."

As chrfr says, you first have to delete your existing copy of iPhoto before 9.6.1 will successfully download. Also turn off any external drives on which a copy of iPhoto might be located. If you wish to play it safe, copy your present iPhoto app to an external drive before deleting it from the internal drive (if you haven't already done so); but then turn off the external drive so the App Store can't detect the copy of iPhoto that is on it.
