iPhoto has tighter integration and is quicker, but less full-featured than Aperture. The libraries are different.

Which is a better application?
 
iPhoto has been great for me. It simple and elegant, and has what the normal user needs.

Just remember don't messing with your photos in the Finder if you use iPhoto.:)
 
If all you need to do is organise, iPhoto is good. It's free too.

Otherwise Aperture is better as it's pretty much iPhoto with a lot more features and much better editing.
