iPhoto won't import iPhone pics anymore

I have tried all sorts of tricks that I've read about, and iPhoto won't recognize or import my iPhone pics... just shows black boxes.

My phone is aT&T 3G and it's not jailbroken (not even sure what that means as it pertains to this issue).

I really need help!!! thanks.
