Hi all,

This is driving me mental. I am not overly clued up when it comes to these sorts of things so am hoping someone may have an easy fix for this.

Basically I have a whole bunch of photos in iPhoto that I want to move onto an external drive, for safe keeping and to free up some space. This has never been a problem for me in the past.

Today however, when I try to copy/paste/ or drag the pics ANYWHERE on my computer they come up with the nice green +, then that successful "twang" sound that you here when you drag and drop something but then are nowhere to be seen. Not on the external drive, or my desktop when I tried dragging even a single photo there.

HOWEVER, I can drag a photo from the downloads folder onto the desktop.

Driving me nuts.

Hope that someone may have some insight into what may be up.

If you drag a photo ONTO the iPhoto dock icon does it go quietly into your iPhoto Library? The symptoms you describe might indicate iPhoto has lost the location of your photos; the thumbnails you see in iPhoto aren't the "real" photos.
