So, my friend had a macbook Pro that wouldn't boot and to make a long story short we did an archive and install off of his install disk. Upon reboot we launch iphoto and it says no photos. I then hold down option when starting the program and manually choose the location of the iphoto library - it still says no photos. I checked in the finder and all the files are there in the iphoto library folder in the pictures folder. Is there a way to easily reindex? Or a .plist or something to delete. This is ilife 06 and 10.4.11.

Hold down cmd+opt when launching iPhoto and it will present you with some options of rebuiling and finding lost pictures.

Thanks for the tip. I don't have the computer here right now but will try that when I do. On a side note, is it common for MBP drives to emit constant motor hum? It is pretty loud. Not screaming at ex-wife loud, but pretty noisy.
