Ipod 1G Accessories with a 4G?

Any chance of some 1G Accessories working with a 4G ipod? My local apple store had the old ipod car charger/fm transmitter that was about $80 for only $20. They said it was only for the 1G, though. Any clue if it will work with the new 4g's?
